Devendra Bishoo

The ICC has confirmed the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 has approved Devendra Bishoo as a replacement player for the injured Dwayne Bravo in the West Indies squad for the tournament.
The confirmation was conveyed to the West Indies Cricket Board on behalf of the committee. Bishoo will replace Bravo, who has injured his left knee.
Any injury-based replacement requires a written submission to the event technical committee along with a diagnosis from a medical practitioner as to the extent of the injury. The replacement player is a permanent addition to the squad.
Bishoo, a 25-year-old spin bowler, has not been capped by the West Indies. He has played 21 first-class matches and 13 domestic Twenty20 games while the Guyanese-born bowler also played for the West Indies A team last year.
Bravo is the 11th player to be replaced in the tournament after compatriots Adrian Barath and Carlton Baugh, Zimbabwe’s Edward Rainsford, Tinotenda Mawoyo and Sean Ervine, Australia’s Nathan Hauritz and Michael Hussey, Praveen Kumar of India, England’s Eoin Morgan and Sohail Tanvir of Pakistan were earlier replaced.

Now this is interesting for the initial excitement among those who claim intimate knowledge was for Tino Best as a sorely needed wicket option. In fact the well-informed sources had almost put Best on the plane to London. Someone prevailed to change that - Bishoo is a prolific wicket taker in the West Indian domestic circuit and is in some form in the f-day format currently going on.
West Indies have been bold in choosing a callow leggie to bowl on sub-continental pitches. Credit here must go to WICB, who are willing to look for options other than the expected ones. This spin-laden West Indies is so different from the hot rods of Clive Lloyd's teams and of his successors.

West Indies have called up uncapped Guyana legspinner, Devendra Bishoo, as a replacement for the injured allrounder Dwayne Bravo in their World Cup squad.
Bishoo has been approved by the ICC's technical committee and will arrive in Dhaka on March 2, ahead of the match against Bangladesh on March 4.
Bravo suffered a major injury to his left knee during the defeat against South Africa.
He is expected to be out of the game for a minimum of four weeks.
Bishoo, 25, is the third replacement player to join the squad as a result of injury.
Kirk Edwards and Devon Thomas had already replaced Adrian Barath and Carlton Baugh, who were ruled out of the tournament because of hamstring problems.
Bishoo was the player of the tournament of Caribbean Twenty20 2010 and also took 10 wickets in the WICB regional 50-over tournament last October.
